Sunparks: the success formula for a holiday near home
Even at the start, 20 years ago, Sunparks was a trendsetter in holidays near home. At the time - and today - the Sunparks holiday resorts were the ideal place to spend a holiday with friends or the family. There's always something to do, thanks to the wide range of indoor facilities. A lot has changed at Sunparks but we still want one thing: to give you a relaxing and fulfilling holiday!

How it all began
In the eighties, tour operator Sunair developed the concept of the active holiday club, where holidaymakers could relax, actively and without any worries. These clubs were all abroad. Sunair organised and coordinated everything to make sure their guests could enjoy an active holiday: the accommodation, the catering, as well as many sport and games facilities. Parents could play sports, while the Sunair activity leaders took care of their children. And for those who still had a lot of energy in the evening, there were many fun activities.

The first stone
But over time, the market was ready for the same holiday concept closer to home. Sunair decided to integrate the success formula in an all-weather holiday park. The main benefits were the subtropical swimming paradise and the indoor relaxation area. According to that philosophy, the first Sunparks was built in De Haan (1989). Afterwards, Sunparks Oostduinkerke, Vielsalm and Kempense Meren opened their doors to welcome their guests.

Innovation is key
In 1998 Sunparks spent a budget of 10 million euro to entirely renovate the 4 holiday resorts. Six years later, the same investment was made again. The holiday villas and Aquafun swimming pools were freshened up and changed to meet contemporary comfort standards.

A new impulse
In 2008, Sunparks decided to expand even further. By merging with Center Parcs, 4 other resorts abroad received the Sunparks label: Loohorst (NL), Zandvoort (NL), Butjadinger Küste (G) and Heilbachsee (G). So today, you can also enjoy the Sunparks formula abroad.

Sunparks offers comfortable and well equipped holiday villas set in the countryside. They are the ideal base for a pleasant holiday near home. The holiday resort is located in a superb area and all attractions are nearby and easily accessible. If you prefer to stay in the park, you will never be bored either. Sunparks is an all-weather holiday concept, with facilities for young and old: Aquafun, Thermae, Kids World, indoor and outdoor sports and numerous restaurants.
